BCR2000 presets for Alesis Micron (Ion as well I guess)
This document and the associated sysex presets and PDF templates currently named bcr2k_micron1, bcr2k_micron2, bcr2k_micron3 are the copyright of Godric Wilkie (godric_wilkie@yahoo.com) of the UK who hereby asserts his moral rights over them.

What do these presets do?

The three presets allow access to most parameters of a Micron program.

What do you mean "most"?

They do not provide control of the FX1 and FX2 parameters or the Mod Matrix - as far as I know these are not accessible by external control. For some reason the FX balance also seems to be unavailable.

They do not allow control of any negative range of a parameter, or the <50% range of balance and some other parameters. This is due to the well documented situation whereby Alesis seem to have overlooked the negative range in mapping NRPNs to internal parameters.

As a consequence of this situation I have not bothered to implement the tracking, as each tracking point includes an essential negative segment in its range - if this cannot be accessed remotely, there seems little point in implementing the thing at all.

Why have you not used any switches?

Because I couldn't. As far as I can tell all parameters on the Micron require 14-bit NRPNs even if they have a range <127. Unfortunately it seems that it is not possible to set switches on the BCR2000 to use 14-bit NRPNs. Behringer seem to have assumed that 14-bit precision is not required by a switch. If you hear different let me know - I hate to be ignorant.

What controls what?

Preset 1 controls the three oscillators (push encoder groups 1 - 3), prefilter mix (push encoder group 4), two filters, out and FX mix (rotary controllers).

Preset 2 controls the three envelopes (push encoder groups 1 - 4 and top 2 rows of rotaries), two LFOs and S/H (bottom row of rotaries and some of the push encoders in G2 and G4).

Preset 3 handles the various "global" voice parameters - polyphony etc, on the top 2 rows of rotaries.

Please regard this as a beta. I have planned out a version using switches but there is no point in even trying this unless Behringer add 14-bit control to switches or Alesis changes the NRPNs so they are only 14-bit if they need to be.
